Manager-Port of Umpqua-Reedsport, Oregon
The Port of Umpqua, located in Coastal Douglas County, is looking
for a professional manager who is an energetic self-starter with a
keen interest in economic development balanced with a good working
knowledge of accounting software for managing the port budget and in
generating financial reports. The successful candidate must have
skill and ability in effectively and efficiently working with local
businesses and organizations as well as federal, state, county, and
city agencies in fulfilling the Port mission to retain and attract
industry to our area. Salary is commensurate with experience and

Commissioners will work with applicants of interest in scheduling

¤ THE POSITION: The manager is the chief executive office of the
district and reports directly to a five-member elected Board of
Commissioners and is responsible for carrying out the policies and
direction of the Board. The Port's primary focus is economic
development and the Port actively works with local businesses and
organizations as well as federal, state, county, and city agencies
to retain and attract industry and business to the area.
¤ STARTING SALARY: Salary is commensurate with experience and
education plus a comprehensive benefit package.
¤ DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of policies and
practices of public or non-profit administration; working knowledge
of finance principles including use of QuickBooks and Excel,
personnel management, property management and economic development;
skill in grant writing and administration, contract management,
government permit procedures, preparing and administering municipal
or non-profit budgets; skill in planning, directing and
administering programs and projects; ability to prepare and analyze
comprehensive reports including financial reports; ability to carry
out assigned projects to their completion; ability to communicate
effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with employees, government
officials, and the public; ability to efficiently and effectively
administer a municipal government or non-profit agency.
¤ PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regular and consistent
attendance is required. Work is primarily performed in an office
environment and is generally sedentary, however, may require
bending, hearing voice conversation, color identification, gripping
with hands and fingers, keyboarding, kneeling, reaching, sitting,
standing and walking. Physical exertion is generally not required.
Lifting office supplies and equipment up to 30 pounds may be
required. A considerable amount of driving is periodically required.
¤ PHYSICAL EXAM: An offer of employment is contingent upon the final
candidate's successful completion of a chemical detection screening,
as well as a thorough criminal background check and fingerprinting,
to be conducted at Port expense.
¤ DRIVING RECORD: Applicants selected for an interview will be
required to bring to the interview a five-year Court Print driving
history obtained from their state Department of Motor Vehicles.
